THE VETTING PROCESS
We have worked closely with the UK’s top gambling lawyers to ensure that our vetting process abides by the Gambling Commission policies and expectations for prize competitions/online raffles. We hope that our strict vetting process will make playing online raffles a much safer and secure experience for everybody participating.
Below is an outline of the steps we take when vetting an online raffle provider to ensure they are legitimate. *Please note that the list below does not show our full vetting process.
Based in UK
All Raffle providers must be based within the United Kingdom (England, Scotland, Wales & Northern Ireland)
Active for 3 Months+
All Raffle providers must be active for a minimum of 3 months in order to list their raffles on the Rafflers website.
Valid Company Details
We will do all of our relevant checks to ensure that all contact details and registered company number of the raffle provider are correct and legitimate.
Live Draws
All raffle draws must take place LIVE on at least one social media platform. How a winning ticket number is chosen must be done randomly either using a physical method (such as a ball machine) or through digital methods (such as Google Number Generator)
Reviews
Raffle providers require a minimum of TEN 5 star legitimate reviews through trusted platforms. This can be through social media, Google or other third party websites such as Trustpilot.
Free Entry Option
A Free Entry route must be a clearly visible option for all raffles listed on our website. The Free Entry route is usually made via sending a postcard to the raffle provider with a paid post stamp. Please refer to the providers terms and conditions for clarification on how free entry can be made. The Free Entry option must be displayed at the same level as the paid route.
Secure Payments
Most raffle providers require card payments in order to purchase tickets. Paypal or Stripe is rarely an option. We will ensure that the payment platform being used by the raffle provider is safe, secure and legitimate so you have complete peace of mind.
Ticket Numbers
A raffle provider must make ticket numbers accessible to those who purchase them. This can be prior to purchasing tickets where numbers are chosen before purchase. Alternatively, the raffle provider will email you with your numbers after purchase.
Maximum Tickets On Sale
We like it when a raffle provider shows the maximum tickets available per raffle. We encourage this for all Raffle providers to provide such information, however, it is not a legal requirement.
Draw Date
Every raffle must clearly display the ending date and time of when entries close. Please note that the actual draw will mostly take place on a different time and date. Please refer to the raffles website page for all information about ending and draw dates.

**Skill Based Question
The Gambling Act 2005 says that to avoid being an illegal lottery, a difficult question or problem puzzle must be set as part of the entry process. Furthermore, the question or puzzle must be difficult enough for a “significant” number of people to get wrong.
Here at Rafflers we have found it impossible to judge what is classed as ‘a question difficult enough that a significant number of people will get it wrong’ as what maybe difficult to us maybe not be difficult to others.
The Gambling Commission has stated that as long as a FREE ENTRY route is available for entrants then an easy or multiple choice question is allowed.
As part of our vetting process and confirming that an online raffle provider is legitimate we require that the FREE ENTRY information is displayed at the same level as the ENTER NOW button. As long as this is in place and the T&C’s about free entry is one click away from the raffle entry page and all of the above expectations are met, then we will approve the raffle provider as legitimate.
